The Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments (RiverCOG) and your community are at risk to natural hazards, such as floods, hurricanes and winter storms. Learn which hazards could impact your community, and the steps that RiverCOG is taking to prevent and reduce damages.
RiverCOG is updating its Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan for the region and its communities – Analyzing natural hazards that could impact the region, measuring risk and vulnerability, and defining mitigation actions that can be taken to make our region more resilient to natural disasters.
In this public meeting, we will present:
•The results of the Public Survey
•An overview of the hazards that pose the greatest risk to the region
• Hurricanes
• Winter Storms
• Flooding (Riverine & Inland and Coastal)
• Wildfire
•Invasive Species (Aquatic, Terrestrial, and Tree Infestation)
•The capabilities the region already has to address these hazards
•The actions the region plans to take in the next five years to enhance these capabilities
