Calling All Paddlers we will return to the Floating Meadows to locate and remove invasive water chestnut plants. Paddlers will launch from the Phil Salafia Kayak and Canoe Launch at 181 Johnson Street. Bags and gloves will be provided, thanks to our partners: the Connecticut River Conservancy and the Rockfall Foundation. For more information on this issue, click here. You will find it gratifying to be out on the water and helping protect our local waterway. Note: Pre-registration is recommended in case of a weather-related change of plans.

A Request For Assistance: If you paddle along the Connecticut River south of Middletown, you are asked to be on the lookout for the body of Steven DeToro who died on May 31 at the Arrigoni Bridge.

And Don't Forget: Important Common Council mtg on July 3: Support Reduced Lawn Chemical Use In Middletown. A City ordinance amendment to reduce the use of chemicals will be on the Common Council agenda on Monday, July 3, at 7 p.m. These chemicals are dangerous to human health and the environment. The amendment will ban the use of these chemicals on all sports playing fields. Please show your support for this positive step by attending the opening part of the Council Meeting on July 3 when your presence will be noted. You may email members of the Common Council at Council@MiddletownCT.gov to express your support of non-toxic maintenance of City playing fields.
