Cause Of Middletown Fire Under Investigation

The fire caused heavy smoke damage to a building on Main Street.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Police Investigation Unit and the local and state fire marshals office are investigating a fire that occurred in an unoccupied building on Main Street Sunday.

The fire at 173 East Main Street was contained to the building, according to South Fire District firefighters IAFF Local 3918 Facebook page.

Middletown Fire, Westfield Fire and Huntington Ambulance responded to the scene while Durham and Haddam Fire Companies covered the South Fire District station.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

There was heavy smoke damage in the building. It is the site of former Hickey's Delicatessen, according to the Middletown Press.
