'Colored' Regiments Of The Civil War

Was Thursday At The Greater Middletown Military Museum

Genealogist John Mills gave a presentation on the 'Colored' Regiments Of The Civil War. 24 men from Middletown served in the 29th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, serving from March 1864, fighting in the battles of Richmond, being the first infantry to enter Richmond. Later serving in Brownsville, Texas until the end of the war. He will also share his research on Isaac J. Hill and Alexander Newton, who published first person accounts of their service in the Civil War.

Chris Barlow from The Berlin Equity Action Committee showed a screening of the short documentary film "The 29th Connecticut" and a presentation about the 29th Regiment. Click Here For Videos Of All The Presentations!
