Come Learn About Black Holes
The Van Vleck Observatory in Middletown is hosting a space-themed event for kids all about black holes! Free, fun, and educational!

Check out Van Vleck Observatry’s Kids’ Night program this Friday, May 1st at 8:00pm. Learn about black holes, create your own galaxy, light some different elements on fire, and more!
Every first and third Friday of the month, Van Vleck Observatory hosts fun presentations and activities for kids* all about SPACE! The events are rain or shine, but when it’s clear, we will observe beautiful objects in space through our 16-inch telescope. So far, we’ve looked at Jupiter, the moon, and some nearby stars! Activities are hands-on, and look out, sometimes we’ll get messy. We’ve modeled space volcanoes, built our own solar systems, and even measured the lifetimes of different stars.
Our speaker this week is Trevor Dorn-Wallenstein, a graduating senior in physics and astronomy. He’ll be explaining the the shapes, colors, and sizes of different galaxies, including the monster black holes that live inside them!
