Confederate-Flag Waving Incident Investigated In Middletown

A student waving a Confederate flag at Middletown High School prompted an investigation on Friday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — An incident involving a white male student and a Confederate flag at Middletown High School Friday morning was posted on social media and prompted an investigation by police and school officials, according to FOX 61.

Superintendent of Schools Michael Conner, the district’s first African-American schools superintendent, told FOX 61 that the incident upset members of the school’s African-American community and that it ā€œcontradicts our values and beliefs.ā€

The Middletown Press reports that the incident involved a student waving a Confederate flag on school grounds at the start of classes.
