Juleps & Viragoes Ball of the Rebellion

On Saturday, April 2, 2016, the community room at the Cromwell Town Hall will become Cromwell's Grand Ballroom as the Cromwell Historical Society presents the eighth annual Juleps & Viragoes Ball of the Rebellion. Each year, the Ball of the Rebellion features decorations and scenarios which reflect the events of the corresponding year in Civil War history. This year, we find ourselves in 1860, a year of great national tension, but still at peace.

While many people do wear period clothing to the ball, it is not required. Out of respect for the occasion, we simply ask attendees to dress as formally as possible. Modern suits and dresses are equally welcome. The members of Juleps & Viragoes are happy to answer questions and make suggestions regarding attire. The dancing itself is quite easy to do and is extremely enjoyable! The members of Terry & Jim Historical Dance "Call" the dances, which simply means they tell everyone where to go and what to do (with the utmost politeness, of course.) There is a grand reception during the intermissions which features outstanding, period food prepared by Elizabeth Choti Bayreuther. Live, Civil-War era ballroom music is provided by the members of Spare Parts, which specializes in historical dance music.

Tickets $25.00
Members of the Cromwell Historical Society $20.00
