CT Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent On Leave

CROMWELL, CT — Cromwell Public Schools superintendent and assistant student have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an independent investigation into potential misconduct.

The Board of Education received an anonymous letter and decided to put both John Maloney and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools Dr. Krista Karch on leave, according to a statement.

The anonymous allegation and DVD copy of surveillance video alleged an inappropriate relationship between the two administrators, according to the Middletown Press. The letter also alleged a toxic work environment that has caused a number of teachers to leave the district.

Law firm Shipman & Goodwin, LLP will conduct an investigation which should be completed before the end of the year, according to WTNH. Cromwell High School Principal Fran DiFiore has been named interim superintendent.
