Two Liquor Store Robbery Arrests Made: Middletown Pd

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man was arrested after he injured a woman during an armed robbery at Whiskey Pete's Beverage Mart on Saybrook Road May 28, according to police. Officers also made an arrested in an unrelated liquor store robbery the same day.

The suspect, identified as Shane Rodgers, 38, pulled up to the liquor store on his motorcycle and entered the building with his pistol, police said.

A female customer said that she was purchasing liquor when Rodgers entered and pointed the gun at her and the clerk, according to police. Rodgers shoved her as she fled the store, which caused her to experience some pain. Rodgers later threatened to shoot a woman in the parking lot as he exited the store, police said.

The clerk said Rodgers demanded money and took it from the register.

Rodgers was found in the area after he crashed his motorcycle, police said. He first told police he had been robbed of his motorcycle and that the robber forced him to get back on the motorcycle with him. He changed his story several times, police said.

Rodgers was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, third-degree assault, threatening and reckless endangerment.

2nd Robbery

Police charged Keyson Mills, 35, of Middletown with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He went to South Main Wine and Spirits and demanded clerks empty the register. He left with cash, but was found a short time later, police said.
