Daffodil Day at the Wadsworth Mansion

The Wadsworth Mansion will host their annual spring event: Daffodil Day-on Sunday, April 26th, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Middletown, CT. The Wadsworth Mansion will host their annual spring event: Daffodil Day-on Sunday, April 26th, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate, 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown. This family event will be held rain or shine and there is no charge for admission.

Experience Vernal Pool Exploration at the vernal pool to the east of the Mansion. Come see all the creatures including tadpoles, salamander & insect larvae that live in a vernal pool in the spring. Everyone Outside (www.EveryoneOutside.org) will provide viewing scopes and information. Learn what letterboxing is all about. Volunteers from Connecticut Forest & Park Association (www.CTWoodlands,org) and Everyone Outside will explain how it works and provide clues to assist you in finding a beautifully hand carved stamp of a scene from the Mansion. Information for self guided letterboxing will also be available. Ranger Russ Miller from Meigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset State Park will present his live reptile show. A Place Called Hope will talk about bird rehabilitation.

Dress your dog in a fun and creative costume and join the dog parade on the vista at 2:00. The parade will be led by Riley, the Wadsworth Mansion mascot.

Ongoing throughout the afternoon, docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate will lead guided tours of the Mansion providing a narrative that details the history of the estate. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family will be on display in the History Room.

The Whey Station, The Cupcake Break, and Nini’s Pizza Truck will tantalize visitors with delicious comfort food sold from their food trucks, the latest craze to hit American streets and Mansions!

Guests are encouraged bring a kite to fly on the vista, enjoy independently the 103 acres of parklands and view the daffodils that will bloom sometime in April assuring us all that spring has finally arrived. Choose your favorite photo taken on Daffodil Day and submit to the Wadsworth Mansion Facebook page to be highlighted and judged in an online photo contest. Submissions can be tagged with #WadsworthDaffodilDay or emailed to events@wadsworthmansion.com
