
In recognition of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, Water’s Edge Center for Health & Rehabilitation will host two June events to support caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s/dementia.
On Thursday, June 21, at 5:30pm, we will host a Dementia/Alzheimer’s Presentation with guest speaker, Dr. Marilise Hyacinth of Middlesex Hospital. She will speak on “How to Handle Difficult Behaviors.” This speaker presentation will take place at Water’s Edge, located at 111 Church Street in Middletown. About our Presenter: Dr. Hyacinth, Geriatric Psychiatrist, emigrated from Guyana at a young age and was raised in New York City. She attended Franklin and Marshall College, where she studied Biochemistry. From college, she went on to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, for graduate studies in Chemistry. Shortly after the completion of her PHD, Dr. Hyacinth began medical school at George Washington University, where she received the Jerry Weiner Award as the most outstanding graduate of the medical school planning a career in Psychiatry and was inducted into the Kane-King-Dodek Honor Society. Dr. Hyacinth completed for General Adult Psychiatry Residency at Yale University where she was the recipient of the Benjamin Bunney Award. She also served at Program-Wide Chief Resident, Chief of Education, and Chief of the WHVA Inpatient Psychiatry unit her fourth-year. She stayed on at Yale to complete the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program. Dr. Hyacinth joined Middlesex Hospital in August 2017 as a General Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist. In early 2018, she became the Adult Outpatient Medical Director for the Center for Behavioral Health at Middlesex Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 26 from 5-9pm, Mondo Restaurant in Middletown will host the 4th Annual Give Back Night for Alzheimer’s. Mondo will donate 10% of all sales, dine in and take out, to the Alzheimer’s Association in support of the Water’s Edge 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Team. No flyer required.
