Driver Killed In Rollover Crash On Route 9 In Middletown
The crash happened Tuesday afternoon on Route 9 in Middletown.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — An Ansonia man was killed in a rollover crash on Route 9 in Middletown on Tuesday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. near Exit 12 on Route 9 South in Middletown.
Police said Vance Jenkins, 33, was driving a 1997 Toyota 4Runner in the left lane of two just south of Exit 12 when the vehicle struck the concrete barrier in the median while negotiating a curve in the road.

The Toyota then traveled across the roadway through the right lane and right shoulder, struck a slight embankment and a Department of Transportation light pole before rolling over and coming to a final rest on its roof, according to police.
Police said Jenkins was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived and pronounced dead at the scene.

The State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Squad assisted with the investigation. Notification to the next of kin was made, police said.
