Early-Morning Scuffle Leads To Gunshots In Middletown: Police
Middletown police have arrested a local man in an incident involving a gun.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown police said they have arrested a local man in a incident involving gunshots.
At about 2 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a shooting incident on Portland Street.
Following an investigation, Rashon Saunders, 35, of Middletown, was identified as the suspect, police said. It was determined that Saunders had been involved in a physical altercation with two others prior to firing several shots at them, police said.

Saunders was located and taken into custody hours later at a residence in New London, police said.
He has been charged with the following: two counts of attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, commission of a felony with a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, third-degree criminal mischief, violation of a protective order and second-degree breach of peace.

Saunders was held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Middletown Superior Court on Monday, records show.
No injuries were reported.
