
Public Hearing on Long Lane Multi-Use Trail
The preliminary design for a trail starting at the Long Hill Rd. soccer complex and ending at the intersection of Long Lane and Wadsworth Street will be presented on September 29, 7 p.m., in the Community Room of Middletown’s Police Station. Residents who live on or near Long Lane, those who travel regularly by car along Long Lane, and those who anticipate using the trail are strongly encouraged to attend the hearing. The exact location of the trail (i.e. its distance from the road) and the issue of tree removals will be subjects of discussion.

The single most powerful measure our society can take to protect the environment is to preserve open space; it will prevent further sprawl, protect water resources, prevent worse flooding, and lead to more attractive urban life. Solarize Middletown
The City of Middletown invites residents to “go solar” for their home electricity needs. Solarize Middletown is a state-wide program that offers home solar at a reduced cost. Join ecotherapist Beth Lapin on a nature hike at Higby Mountain on Saturday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m. You will have a rare opportunity to access the Mattabesett Trail through the city's Water Department lands that include Higby and Adder Reservoirs. This is a moderately difficult hike due to length and steepness. Details and registration info here.
