‘Extremely’ Drunk Man Threatens to Kill Officers, Women During Outburst: Middletown Police

The incident occurred after a friend told the man she didn't want him in her apartment and police were called to the scene.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is accused of threatening to kill two police officers and two women during a drunken outburst at a city apartment, according to police.

Middletown Police responded to an apartment in the 500 block of Main Street at about 4 p.m. on Sept. 26 on the report of an unwanted person.

Responding officers met with the residents, two women along with a 5-month-old baby, and the complainant told police that Matthew Adcock followed her home from Main Street and that he was “extremely” drunk, according to the police report.

The woman told police that she is friends with Adcock and that he sometimes comes to visit but on this day she told him that she didn’t want him in her apartment.

When she went inside to close the door, Adcock pushed his way into the apartment and refused to leave, according to the police report.

While officers were talking to the woman, they said Adcock was yelling so loudly that he could be heard clearly in the common hallway of the apartment building, according to the police report.

Police entered into the bedroom and found Adcock lying on the bed with his belt undone and was “extremely uncooperative,” according to the police report.

Police said Adcock was yelling and refusing to provide basic information and was “extremely” intoxicated and would fall when he tried to stand up, the report states.

During his rant, Adcock is accused of yelling that he was going to “kill” the two officers and the female residents, police said.

Adcock then clenched his fists and started to stand up to advance toward the officers and yelled “you don’t know what’s going to happen,” police wrote in the report.

Adcock was then taken into custody and police had to carry him down the stairs because he wouldn’t stand up and he flailed around widely and kicked at an officer with his loose leg, according to the report. Police also said that Adcock’s pants repeatedly fell down and his genitals were exposed.

Adcock also wouldn’t get into the police cruiser, police said, and tensed his body in a straight line. He finally got inside after several minutes of pleading by police, according to the report.

During the booking process, Adcock would begin yelling and threatening to kill the officers before apologizing. Then, police said, he finally lost control and refused to be booked any further and wouldn’t let police fingerprint him.

Adcock was arrested on charges of second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening and failure to submit to fingerprints. He was released on a $7,500 bond and is due in court on Oct. 18, according to the state judicial website.
