Family Pets Perish In Middletown House Fire

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Three family pets died in a Middletown house fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon and lasted into the early evening, officials said.

The fire at 75 Stantack Road broke out at about 4:30 p.m. and was under control at about 6 p.m. officials from the Westfield Fire Department said.

Two dogs and a cat died in the fire, but the home was otherwise unoccupied, fire officials said.

The blaze not only forced the closure of Stantack Road, but Country Club Road from Preston Avenue to the Meriden Line, fore officials said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday morning, officials said.
