A Hike At Spiderweed Preserve and Reconnect with Nature

Saturday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 13

OCTOBER NATURE HIKE, SPIDERWEED PRESERVE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 10 AM:

On Saturday, October 10 from 10 to 11:30am, I will be offering a hike at the Spiderweed Preserve through Middletown’s Recreation Division. We will investigate a little known 150 acre Nature Conservancy preserve that was the former summer retreat of a New York actress. Come on a one and a half hour moderate walk along the loop trail, with a few side spurs. We will explore pegmatite outcrops with long-range views and follow colonial stone walls that demark old fields and roadways. Wear hiking shoes (some wet areas), bring a snack and water, camera, binoculars if desired.

Directions: take Saybrook Road south from Randolph Road to Dripps Road on the left (just before the auto body shop). The trail head starts in 500 feet on the left at the bend in Dripps Road.
