HMF Presents Legend of Sport, Devon Harris - Captain, Jamaican Bobsled Team
This event is free and open to the public. April 2, 2016, 2:30 pm at Middletown City Hall, 245 DeKoven Drive Middletown, CT 06457.

The Hartford Marathon Foundation is proud to present sports legend Devon Harris on April 2. Hear the inspiring story behind his spell-binding journey -- from a barefoot boy in the slums of Jamaica trying to win a track race to leading his country's first Olympic bobsled team.
Devon will share lessons he learned on the power of persistence over all sorts of obstacles. He will show you how to tap into something innate inside of you, to keep on pushing and working for your dreams every day.
The life of Devon Harris is an improbable story that began in the violent ghettos of Kingston, Jamaica. Against all odds, he graduated from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England and served as an officer in the Jamaica Defence Force before being selected as captain of the original Jamaican Olympic Bobsled Team in1988, 1992 and 1998. The exploits of Devon and his bobsled team inspired the blockbuster Disney movie, Cool Runnings.
Devon will tell you that regardless of the family you were born in, the environment in which you lived, or the difficulties you faced along the way, nothing will get you to where you want to be better than understanding your full potential.
