A proposed Middletown ordinance to ban single-use plastic checkout bags and impose a 10-cent charge for paper bags is expected to be on the April 1, 7 p.m. agenda of the Common Council. We encourage the public to attend the meeting to demonstrate community support for this important step toward changing consumer habits that are harmful to the environment. Citizen Input Needed:
The City of Middletown is seeking input for its new Plan of Conservation & Development. The City needs to know how the people of Middletown feel about topics such as Open Space Preservation, Economic Development, Sustainability, Affordable Housing, Bike-Ped Facilities, and the Riverfront. Public interactive workshops will be held on Thurs. April 25, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Middletown High School and on Saturday, April 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Pedestrian “Bump Outs” Are Coming
The State of Connecticut’s plans for Route 9 in Middletown are still being developed, but one matter has been settled. Pedestrian bump-outs will be installed on Main Street from Union Street to Green Street during the 2019 construction season. Read more here.
