Mary Clap Wooster was born in Windham, April 25, 1729. She was the wife of Major General David Wooster. She was a woman of rare qualities and entered with great ardor into the cause of independence, sustaining her husband with her brave and patriotic spirit throughout his military career.

Mary Katherine Goddard The First Female Newspaper Publisher (1775) Mary Katherine Goddard was born June 16th in either Groton or New London Connecticut in 1738. She was the daughter of Dr. Giles Goddard and Sarah Updike Goddard. Her father was the postmaster of New London, Connecticut.
