Jaywalking Likely A Factor In Serious Car-Pedestrian Crash In Middletown, Police Say
The crash took place Sunday night in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — It appears jaywalking was a factor in a Sunday night crash involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle, according to an update from police.
The crash occurred at 11:30 p.m. along the 900 block of Washington Street.
"Based on information developed during the ongoing investigation, it appears the 20-year-old male pedestrian was not within a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision," police said in a preliminary report.

Police said the operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and "continues to be fully cooperative with investigators."
The pedestrian, police said, was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon and is receiving medical treatment at Hartford Hospital.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and is being conducted by the Middletown Police Department Traffic Unit.
