Portland Gets $686,000 Grant For Air Line Trail
Restoration of 2.27 miles of the historic Air Line Trail from Depot Hill Road in East Hampton to Camp Ingersoll in Portland can now be accomplished. Portland also recently acquired a parcel of land known as the Keegan property for a trailhead and parking, and in January the Town signed a license agreement with Eversource Energy which owns the rail bed, allowing public recreational use. The Jonah Center played a significant role in setting up the Air Line Trail Steering Committee early in 2014, after our program at the Brownstone Library, “Bringing the Air Line Trail to Portland,” on November 26, 2013.
