Mt. Higby Ridge Open Space Update

Middletown’s Finance and Government Operations Commission (F&GO) has twice delayed passing the Pierce Property Open-Space Purchase on to the Common Council. This scenic property along the trap rock ridge of Mt. Higby has been desired by the City since the 1969 Open Space Plan. $686,000 is a fair price ($451,250 of City funds plus $234,750 from the state of CT).

The delays and postponements of a decision make us worried that the purchase might not happen, in which case an historic opportunity could be lost. Members of the Common Council need to hear from residents in support of the purchase. Emails are needed before Feb. 25. For more information, including how to email Common Council members, click here.
