K-9 Hunter Assists Drug Bust In Middletown: Police
The suspect was found hiding near a wooden deck, according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown K-9 Hunter assisted officers with a drug bust early Friday morning, locating cocaine in the area where a suspect was found hiding near a wooden deck, according to police. At about 1:40 a.m. on June 30, Officer Mike D’Aresta and his partner, K9 Hunter, responded to Alsop Avenue initially to assist officers in an active foot pursuit, according to police.
Police said the suspect had already been taken into custody upon Hunter’s arrival. The male suspect was found hiding on the south side of 6 Alsop Avenue near a wooden deck, according to police. (To sign up for Middletown breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
“Prior to the pursuit it was believed the suspect had been involved in a narcotics transaction,” Middletown’s K-9 unit wrote on Facebook. “K9 Hunter then conducted an evidence recovery search in the area where the male suspect was hiding. K9 Hunter gave a positive alert by laying down next to the deck which was less than a foot off the ground.

“A clear plastic baggie was recovered from underneath the deck containing an amount of a white powdery substance which tested positive for the presence of cocaine... Along with the charge of Assault on a Police Officer, K9 Hunter's find was instrumental, allowing Officers to add a Narcotics Possession charge and an Intent to Sell Narcotics charge. Great job to all the Officers involved.”
