For the fourth year, St. Vincent de Paul Middletown is a benefiting agency in the Foodshare Walk Against Hunger. The 2-mile walk takes place in downtown Hartford on Sunday May 1st, beginning and ending at Liam E. McGee Memorial Park on Garden Street. The Walk Against Hunger is the largest anti-hunger fundraising event in Connecticut, and likewise, is St. Vincent de Paul Middletown's largest annual fundraiser.
300 people have participated on behalf of our agency in the past 3 years, raising $30,000 each year to support our programs.

Our Soup Kitchen and Amazing Grace Food Pantry continue to experience unprecedented demand for nutritious food. The need for food has increased nearly 30% since the financial crisis of 2008 with our programs providing approximately 350,000 meals in 2015. The summer months are when food demand increases with the school recess, and that is when donations typically decline.
Joining the well-established Foodshare Walk Against Hunger is a very cost-effective way to raise funds, and its timing provides an excellent opportunity for us to keep up with summer demand. 80% of funds raised by our Walkers will benefit our agency and those most in need in our community.
