Liberty Bank Foundation Awards Scholarship To High School Student In Middletown
The award is given annually by the Liberty Bank Foundation to a student who is majoring in social work or a human services-related field.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Jayden Otchere, of Middletown, has received a college scholarship from the Liberty Bank
Foundation.
Otchere was selected as the 2026 recipient of the $5,000 Willard McRae Scholarship, named in honor of the late Willard McRae, past chairman of the Liberty Bank Board of Directors and a founding member of the Liberty Bank Foundation
Board of Directors.
It is awarded annually by the Liberty Bank Foundation to a student who is majoring in social work or a human services-related field.

Otchere is a graduate of Middletown High School and will attend UConn-Stamford to study psychology.
In addition to Otchere’s success in the classroom, he was an active member in his high school’s Distributive Education Clubs of America chapter and frequently volunteers at his church.

Bank officials said Otchere exemplifies qualities such as drive, curiosity, compassion and a strong sense of community — traits that closely align with Liberty’s brand promise, "Be Community Kind."
Since its inception in 1997, the Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded more thjan $23 million in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Liberty Bank’s market area.
Following the Bank's "Be Community Kind" spirit, the foundation seeks to improve the lives of individuals and families by investing in three key areas: education and training, affordable housing, and food.
