Man Arrested After Suicide Attempt in Middletown

The Wesleyan University football player crashed his car into another car and then allegedly fought the police.

Ibraheam Khadar, 23, of Lowell, Massachusetts, sped down the road and crashed head-on into another vehicle - injuring the occupants.

Khadar got out of his vehicle and walked at the officers, telling them to shoot him. The officers used a stun gun, but Khadar ran down the street before eventually falling to the ground in a Wesleyan field.

Even as officers cuffed him and took him to the patrol car, he fought with them.

Khaddar was charged with reckless driving, operating an influence under the influence of drugs or alcohol, evading responsibility, second-degree reckless endangerment, assault on police personnel, four counts of interfering with police, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

He was held on a $75,000 bond and was due to appear in court on Tuesday.

Khadar is listed on the Wesleyan football roster as a 6-foot, 2-inch, 260 pound defensive lineman.
