The man is accused of assaulting the victim and later a police officer.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend during a domestic dispute and later assaulted a police officer on Saturday night, according to police. Brian J. Hoffman, 40, of Warwick Street, was arrested after police responded to a domestic dispute at about 10 p.m. on Oct. 14. Hoffman is accused of grabbing the woman by the hair and shoving her face into the floor after he had thrown food at her, according to the police report. The victim also told police he rubbed the food in her hair and face.

After being handcuffed, Hoffman is accused of kicking a police officer twice while being placed into a police cruiser. While being transported to police headquarters, Hoffman made verbal threats to harm the officers and their families, according to the report. Hoffman remained “uncooperative, non-compliant and combative” with police throughout the entire booking process, police said in the report.
