MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Hamden man faces several charges, including attempted murder and home invasion, in connection with a domestic violence incident in Middletown on Sunday night, according to police.

Middletown police responded to a home in Traverse Square around 7:50 p.m. on the report of gunshots. Arriving officers determined that the incident was domestic related and that another person inside the home had been shot during a fight, according to Middletown Police Lt. Brian Hubbs.

The gunshot victim, a 30-year-old man, left the scene before police arrived and was taken to Middlesex Hospital by a friend. He was later transferred to Hartford Hospital and was listed in stable condition for a gunshot wound to his upper left shoulder, according to Hubbs.

Hubbs said Muhammd exited his home without incident and was arrested in connection with the shooting/domestic violence incident.

Muhammd was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, commission of an A/B/C felony with a firearm, first-degree assault, home invasion, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a dangerous weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree threatening and third-degree assault.
