Man Charged In Christmas Morning Assault: Middletown Police

The man is accused of assaulting a woman in a domestic-related incident, according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A man who was wanted in connection with a domestic assault on Christmas morning has been arrested, according to police.

Police announced on Thursday that Abdias Cortes, 59, has been found and arrested.

Cortes is accused of assaulting a woman around 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 25. Police said Cortes is accused of forcing the victim from her parked vehicle, punching her in the face repeatedly and threatening to kill her.

Cortes was charged with violation of a protective order, second-degree assault, second-degree threatening and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
