Man Charged In Serious Assault Of Woman: Middletown Police

The victim was taken to the emergency room with "severe and extensive facial injuries," according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A North Carolina man is accused of seriously injuring a woman in an assault Saturday in Middletown, according to police.

Police said a woman with “severe and extensive facial injuries” was dropped off at the Middlesex Health emergency room by a dark-colored SUV. The driver then left the scene, according to police.

The victim was later transferred to Hartford Hospital due to the trauma she suffered, police said.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Kasime Leary, 39, of Ahoskie, North Carolina, for his role in the assault, according to police.

Police found Leary on Monday while conducting surveillance in the north end of the city. He was driving a dark-colored SUV and was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant, according to police.

Leary was charged with first-degree assault and held in lieu of a $500,000 bond and was scheduled to be presented at court on Tuesday.
