Man Punched Victim In Head For ‘No Reason’: Middletown Police
A witness told police the man punched the victim from behind as part of the "knockout game" while on a street in Middletown.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Hartford man was arrested after police say he punched another man in the back of the head for no reason Wednesday evening in Middletown. Police responded to the area of Main Street and Ferry Street near the Wharf Side Commons apartment complex at about 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 14 on the report of an assault.
The victim told police he was standing and talking with two other people in the 500 block of Main Street when he was punched from behind on the left side of his head for “no reason what so ever,” according to the police report. The victim fell to the ground, but didn’t lose consciousness and refused medical attention.
While talking with police, the victim saw a man, later identified as Walter Dismuke, walking out of the Wharf Side Commons apartment complex and said, “that’s the guy who hit me,” according to the police report.

Police said Dismuke, 33, appeared “heavily intoxicated and could barely stand up” and wouldn’t cooperate with the investigation.
A witness told police that Dismuke walked up from behind the victim and punched him on the left side of the head as part of “the knock out game,” according to the report.

Dismuke was taken into police custody and became “uncooperative” during the booking process and “began removing his clothing without being asked to do so,” according to police. Dismuke was also accused of urinating in the booking area and kicking the wall, police said.
Dismuke was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault and was initially held on a $50,000 bond. He was arraigned the next day and released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 3, according to state judicial records.
