Veteran Receives 14-Year Jail Sentence After Raping Teen in Middletown: Police
Robert Andrews pleaded guilty to several charges this year.

In 2013, a 15-year-old female reportedly asked Robert Andrews, 36, for a ride to her hometown of West Haven. The victim told police that Andrews assaulted her via headlock. That led to her passing out and later waking up with her pants down, the Middletown Press reported.
Middletown Police said the victim had such severe broken blood vessels on her face that physicians were shocked she was alive.
Andrews is reportedly a veteran, entering service approximately 18 years ago. He pleaded guilty to the following charges:

- Sexual assault in the first degree
- Risk of injury to a minor
- Assault in the first degree
Andrews originally faced 100 years in prison for a charge of attempted murder. According to the Hartford Courant, he pleaded guilty via the Alfred doctrine.
An Alford plea means the defendant pleads guilty without admitting guilt.
