Man Shoves Boss at Car Wash, Onto Roller System: Middletown Police

The man, who worked at the car wash for a few days, told police he was tired of being disrespected and talked down to.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Upset over feeling disrespected by his new boss, a city man was charged with shoving the manager of a Middletown car wash over and onto the roller system inside the car wash, according to police.

Police responded to the Auto Spa Car Wash, located at 913 Washington Street, at about 8:22 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 on a reported assault.

The employee, Glenn Burby, was accused of shoving the manager after he felt the man was speaking down to him and the manager fell backwards and onto the roller system inside the car wash, according to the police report.

Burby, 51, told police he had been employed at the car wash for a few days and that the manager had been talking to him as if he was “dumb” from the beginning and he felt disrespected.

The manager said he was yelling at Burby for doing something wrong and after he was shoved, he landed on his back onto the roller system and hit his head, according to the police report.

The manager complained of a sore back, but declined medical attention.

Burby, of Miles Avenue, was arrested on a charge of breach of peace and was issued a court date of Oct. 7.

Burby was also advised that he had been fired from the car wash and was no longer allowed on the property, according to the police report.
