Mercy High School Graduate Receives Scholarship

The Utility Contractors Association of Connecticut recently announced its 2020 scholarship winners.

The Utility Contractors Association of Connecticut (UCAC) is excited to announce their 2020 scholarship winners. Each year, UCAC awards scholarships to deserving students who are furthering their education beyond high school. “UCAC is especially proud to award these scholarships to the students of the Class of 2020. They have been through a tumultuous year and we are honored to lighten the financial burden of these hard-working students,” according to Kevin Plourde, P.E., UCAC President.

The 2020 Foundations Scholarship is being awarded in honor of William “Bill” Dufford. Bill has been a member of UCAC since 1983 and served as President from 1989-1990. Bill has received the UCAC Contractor of the Year Award in 1990 and the UCAC Distinguished Service Award in 1995. He continues to be an active member of UCAC. The Foundations Scholarship is exclusively awarded to promote the education of a deserving student interested in pursuing the trades, engineering or construction management. It is with great pride that UCAC announces Justin Marcotte as the recipient of the 2020 Foundations Scholarship. Justin is a graduate of Woodstock Academy and plans to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.

UCAC General Scholarships are being awarded to the following deserving students who have persevered through an unprecedented senior year: Jack Tousignant, a graduate of Conard High School; John Johnston, a graduate of Simsbury High School; Olivia Bates, a graduate of Mercy High School; and Raegan Moore, a graduate of Coginchaug Regional High School.

In light of current events, UCAC is unable to hold the Presentation of Scholarships in person. Instead, UCAC will be holding a virtual presentation on July 15th when the scholarship winners
