Middlesex Cancer Center Awarded $19,688 Gift

Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center on Tuesday received a $19,688 gift from John Dolishny, general manager of Tanger Outlets in Westbrook. The presentation took place at Water’s Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook, according to a press release.

Tanger Outlets raises money for the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center through several events, the largest being the annual Tanger Pink & Choose and the Tanger Fit for Families 5K Run/Walk organized by Dolishny and hosted on-site in Westbrook.

Tanger’s 2010 Pink & Choose event raised money through an on-site program at Tanger shopping centers. For a $1 donation, Tanger shoppers received a special 25 percent discount off a single item "Pink Card" to be used at participating Tanger stores, according to the release.

Another big event, the second annual 2010 Tanger Fit for Families 5K Run/Walk, attracted 250 runners and walkers who gathered together to support the hospital at the 3.1-mile race. This year more than 350 are expected to attend.

John Dolishny said: "We attribute the success of these events to our supporters and the many supporters of the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center. They help spread the word in their communities and are relentless in their efforts." Many of the stores at Tanger also participated by donating prizes and volunteering their time to help staff the event.

The 2011 Tanger Fit for Families 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, beginning at 8:30am. The first 350 registrants will receive a free t-shirt and race pack. Pre-registration is required and can be done in the Tanger Westbrook Shopper Services Center. The entry fee is $25. All proceeds will benefit the Middlesex Hospital.
