Participating in Warming The Homeless and Holiday on Main Street

This holiday season the Society is collecting gifts for the homeless men and women of our community. The gift drive starts on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, and runs through Thursday, December 17. Drop off your unwrapped gifts to the General Mansfield House at 151 Main Street , Middletown ; the house is open from Monday through Thursday and Saturdays from 10am-2pm.

· Socks

· Long johns

· Gloves

· Scarves

· Thermos bottles

· Care packages (basic toiletries in a bag)

Gifts will be delivered to our local shelters and distributed to homeless men and women. Throughout Middletown ’s history, people in the community have taken care of one another in times of need. The Society is honored to do our part to continue this tradition in this season of joy and thanksgiving.
HOMS-Logo-2015-002-300x300.gifThe Historical Society is again participating in the Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday on Main Street by being open on Friday, November 27 from 2 to 5 with refreshments for our visitors and tours of our exhibits. In the hall case is a new exhibit of turn of the 20th century Thanksgiving and Christmas menus from the Chafee Hotel, curated by Susan Ryczek.
