Middletown America 250 Parade Postponed Until Labor Day Over Heatwave

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middlesex County America 250 Parade in Middletown has been postponed from Independence Day to Labor Day, according to information released about the event.

The family friendly parade had been scheduled for July 4, as part of local semiquincentennial events marking America’s 250th anniversary.

Mayor Eugene Nocera said the change was made because of the weather.

“We have postponed the parade due to the extreme heat," he said. "The health and safety of the community is our number one priority. I am looking forward to September when we will gather for the parade to honor America’s historic 250th anniversary. I wish every a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.”

The parade is part of Middlesex County’s observance of the nation’s 250th anniversary, also known as the semiquincentennial.

According to the event information, it was planned as a family-friendly gathering tied to that broader commemoration. The postponement shifts the timing of the celebration but does not change its purpose of honoring the anniversary.
