MIDDLETOWN, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Middletown and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Matthew Scarrozzo, 55, is running for a seat on the Common Council as a Republican.

Presently from 1986, Middlesex Hospital Security. Retired 28 years, City of Middletown Fire Dept. Firefighter, EMT, Assistant Fire Marshal, Deputy Fire Marshal. 8 years Union President IAFF Local 1073.

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office:

Presently, elected Westfield Fire District Fire Commissioner. 6 years

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Taxes, lower taxes. Improve roads and downtown parking. Economic development and improved riverfront. Continue responsible education.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Being transparent, knowing how the City operates / departments City operations.

Taxes and finances, Bonded debt, Managing debt, Controlled spending.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Worked with budgets and continue to set budget for residents of the Westfield Fire District to keep our property taxes low. Have answered the call for emergencies for our residents and will continue to answer the call if elected.
