Middletown to Commemorate Pride Month With Crosswalk Dedication

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown is commemorating Pride Month with a crosswalk dedication and flag raising ceremony.

Mayor Benjamin Florsheim announced Tuesday that a ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at
City Hall.

The crosswalk on Main Street (the central block between Washington and Court Streets at 386 Main Street) has been painted in honor of Pride Month. The crosswalk stretches across the entirety of Main Street, and it incorporates the design of the Quasar Progress Pride Flag, Middletown Pride officials said.

A dedication of the crosswalk featuring local dignitaries and Middletown Pride 2024 Grand Marshals is on tap for 10 a.m. Following the crosswalk dedication, the group will head over to City Hall for the City’s sixth annual flag raising, where the Mayor will issue a proclamation for Pride Month.

The flag will fly for the entire month of June.

The sixth-annual Middletown PrideFEST is scheduled for June 1 (with a rain date of June 2) from noon to 10 p.m. in downtown Middletown. PrideFEST combines exhibitors, entertainers, food and activities for all ages, including a 21-plus area.

It will also feature a Pride March from 1 to 2 p.m., a Pride Rally on the South Green from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and two Pride Showcase Concerts (4 to 7 p.m.) and a Tea Dance Party (7 to 10 p.m.).
