Middletown Cops Urge Caution In Westfield Due To Firefighting Efforts
Police in Middletown Wednesday were asking residents to avoid the Westfield area, if possible, because of firefighting efforts in Berlin.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — On Wednesday afternoon, Middletown police put out a request that residents and commuters avoid the Westfield area of the city by the Berlin/Meriden town lines so that emergency resources can easily respond to the massive brush fire in Berlin, if needed.
There is currently no threat to public safety in Middletown, but emergency apparatus could be using the area to access the firefighting efforts, police said.
As Middletown officials were monitoring the fire affecting Berlin, they were encouraging their residents to consider signing up for the State of Connecticut Emergency Notifications at portal.ct.gov and/or the City of Middletown’s notifications at middletownct.gov.
