Middletown Firefighters Raising Funds, Awareness For Leukemia

A firefighter's son was diagnosed with leukemia this past year and firefighters will be wearing and selling T-shirts throughout September.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown Firefighters will be wearing and selling orange T-shirts for the month of September in honor of one of their own and raising funds for Leukemia awareness.

“As firefighters, we pride ourselves on taking care of others,” the City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 wrote in a post on Facebook. “This past year, one of our members' sons, Hunter Woitowitz, was diagnosed with a type of leukemia. And so, in keeping with the tradition of the fire service, Middletown Firefighters will be wearing orange t-shirts in honor of Leukemia Awareness during the month of September.

“T-shirts are $20 (small thru XXL) and can be purchased at fire headquarters. All monies raised through the sale of these shirts will be donated to Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Leukemia Awareness.”
