Middletown To Host downtown Trick-Or-Treat, Connecticut Author Event Next Week

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Downtown Middletown will host two Halloween-season events Saturday, Oct. 17, combining a family-friendly trick-or-treat celebration with a gathering of Connecticut authors.

Middletown Recreation will host its annual Downtown Trick or Treat from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Main Street. The event will take place rain or shine and feature costumes, candy and seasonal activities for families.

At the same time, Ädelbooks & More will host Treats in the Streets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 292 Main St. The free event will feature Connecticut authors, book signings, readings and opportunities for visitors to purchase signed copies of books.

Families attending the downtown trick-or-treat event can also participate in a sensory-friendly story time and enjoy seasonal treats. Costumes are welcome for visitors of all ages.

Ädelbooks & More and the Ädelbrook Bark-ery are student-run vocational storefronts operated by Ädelbrook's Transitional Academy. The businesses provide young adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities with hands-on experience in customer service, retail operations, communication, teamwork and workplace readiness.

Organizers said the two events offer activities for both adult readers and families, with all activities within walking distance along Main Street.

Treats in the Streets and Downtown Trick or Treat are free and open to the public. Visitors interested in meeting authors and browsing signed books are encouraged to arrive early for the best selection.
