Middletown K-9 Hunter Locates Unconscious Man in Woods

Police received a report of a man in distress after he called the dispatch center numerous times saying he was lost and stranded.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown K-9 Hunter recently located an unconscious man in the woods after police received a report of a man in distress.

Officers responded to the area of 485 Washington Street shortly after midnight on March 25 after the man called the Middletown dispatch center numerous times, saying that he was lost and stranded before losing contact with him, according to police.

The dispatcher informed officers that the man appeared to be an emotionally disturbed person.

Police were able to determine, through a cellphone ping, that the man’s last known location was in the general area of 485 Washington Street.

Officer Michael D'Aresta and his partner, K-9 Hunter, were called to the scene to assist after officers had negative results finding him.

”K-9 Hunter was ‘casted’ out in this location, which led to a small dense wooded area,” the Middletown CT Police K-9 Unit posted on Facebook. “A short time later, K-9 Hunter picked up a scent and began to pull hard into the woods, saturated with thick brush and prickers. K-9 Hunter located an unconscious black male lying on a bed of prickers.

“With the assistance of other Officers, this individual was carried out of wooded area and transported to Middlesex Hospital for medical treatment.

“Great team effort by all Officers involved with locating this individual and getting him to safety, in a timely manner.”
