Middletown Man Killed In 6-Vehicle Crash On I-91: State Police
The man was killed in a six-vehicle accident on I-91 in Meriden over the weekend, according to Connecticut State Police.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man was killed in a six-vehicle accident on Interstate 91 in Meriden on Saturday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. in the area of Exit 18 on I-91 South in Meriden.
Six vehicles were traveling south of Exit 18 in the right lane when traffic started to slow ahead. As traffic started to slow, a vehicle driven by a New Haven man proceeded forward and struck a Ford Fusion driven by Jarquis Tyrell Johnson that started a chain reaction resulting in a six-car accident, according to police.

Johnson, 30, of Middletown, was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
Several people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash, according to police.

The cause of the accident is under investigation but state police noted: "At the time of the investigation the weather was clear under daylight skies, the roadway was dry, and traffic was moderate and moving at a steady flow."
Police are asking any witnesses of the crash to contact Trooper Gina Bavolacco at 203-393-4200 or email Gina.Bavolacco@ct.gov. Anyone who was driving through the area at the time of the crash, and might have dashboard footage recorded, is also asked to contact state police.
