Middletown Man Punches Woman, Police Officer at Spear Park: PD
Police responded to a domestic dispute at the park and the man is accused of assaulting the officer during a struggle.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man is accused of punching a woman and later a police officer during a struggle at Spear Park.
Middletown Police were dispatched to a domestic dispute at Spear Park on William Street at about 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 10 and a woman flagged down an officer who was traveling on Main Street. The woman, who was later identified as the victim, was on the corner with Tyrone Taylor and told the officer that Taylor punched her, according to the police report.
The officer attempted to notify dispatch that he was on the scene with the involved parties, when Taylor walked up to him and is accused of saying, “Don’t you f------ think about calling more people here,” according to the police report.

Police said Taylor, 38, then started to yell at the victim and ignored the officer’s commands and refused to calm down.

In an attempt to control the situation, the officer told Taylor that he would be detaining him in handcuffs. But when the officer attempted to do so, Taylor pulled away and “turned around in a fighting stance and clenched his fists,” police wrote in the report.
A struggle ensued and Taylor attempted to punch the officer several times but swung and missed, according to the report.
The officer then kicked Taylor in the stomach, punched him on the left side of his head and placed him in a headlock, police wrote in the report. The officer tripped while attempting to bring Taylor to the ground and Taylor ended up on top of the officer.
Taylor then attempted more punches and landed one of the right side of the officer’s face, according to the report. At that time, two more officers arrived on the scene and placed Taylor in handcuffs.
While being transported to police headquarters, Taylor is accused of threatening the officer and saying “You ain’t s--- in that uniform. I’m gonna get your a--, you wait!” police wrote in the report.
At headquarters, police said Taylor continued to be uncooperative and refused to let officers process or fingerprint him. He is also accused of intentionally urinating on the floor in the holding cage.
Taylor, of Union Street, was arrested on charges of assault on an officer, interfering with an officer, disorderly conduct and refusing to be fingerprinted.
He is currently be held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 27, according to the state judicial records.
