Middletown Man Strangles Victim: Police

A 30-year-old Middletown man allegedly knocked the victim into the closet.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 16, police responded to 112 Russet Lane for a reported domestic disturbance.

Clifford Wallberg, 30, of 112 Russet Lane, Middletown, reportedly admitted to pushing through the front door and knocking the victim into a closet, according to Middletown Police.

“He also admitted to physically grabbing onto the victim,” according to the Middletown Police report. “The victim told police that Wallberg punched her under her left eye and also choked her to the point where she could not breathe.”

Wallberg was transported to the Middletown Police Department, read his rights and processed on the following charges:

  • Disorderly conduct
  • Assault in the third degree
  • Strangulation in the third degree

He was held on a $25,000 surety bond and issued a Wednesday, Sept. 16, court date.
