Middletown Native Joey Logano Wins Daytona 500
Logano started his racing career in Connecticut and at the age of 24 has won NASCAR's biggest race.

Middletown native Joey Logano has won the Daytona 500.
He led the pack with 13 laps to go, according to NBC Sports.
The race became extremely tight near the end with 15 cars in a three-wide tandem with 11 laps to go.

Logano previous best finish at the Daytona 500 was 9th-place.
The race finished on a yellow caution flag after several cars piled-up in the back-end of the field.

Logano, 24, hasn’t forgotten his roots and often comes back to Connecticut for charity events. Recently he helped raise more than $35,000 in Wallingford.
He first started racing at the Silver City Quarter Midget Club in 1996 at the age of 6. He returned to the area for a racing fundraiser in 2012.
Logano won his first NASCAR race in 2008 at the Meijer 300, which made him the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series at slightly over 18-years-old.
