The City of Middletown is one of nineteen municipalities (and the only city or town in New England), selected by the EPA to participate in a pilot Zero Waste program. This program, intended for businesses and municipalities, has the objective of diverting 90% of all waste away from landfills and incinerators through a combination of reduction, composting and recycling.
You can find out more about the city’s program under the topic “Zero Waste” on the City’s website. There is also a pledge form on which you can indicate your own personal commitment to zero waste.
