MIDDLETOWN, CT – July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Middletown so you can start planning now.

What: Fireworks Festival

Where: The festival takes place along the bank of the Connecticut River at Harbor Park and the front lawn of the City’s Municipal Building at 245 deKoven Drive.

When: Saturday, June 29 (Rain date: June 30).

Beginning at 5 p.m., kids and families will be entertained with crafts for kids of all ages, face painters and interactive circus performers roaming the grounds of the festival. There will be plenty of food vendors at both locations featuring a wide and varied selection of tastes. Live music will be presented the entire night at the main stage event area located at City Hall lawn. This year, the festival will be hosted by the Connecticut State Troubadour, Nekita Waller. She will emcee the live event showcasing the musical sounds of rock, R&B, rap, salsa music and an all-star drumming ensemble from 5-8:30 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. the Middletown Symphonic Band starts lighting up the evening with more live music. Then at 9:30 p.m., Mayor Dan Drew will start the countdown for the Fireworks display that shoots directly from the Connecticut River.
